Prepare for your hospital birth with practical, local guidance from Sarah Schofield of The Prepared Birth. This small-group workshop is designed for expectant parents planning to deliver at Tacoma General, St. Joseph, Madigan, Good Samaritan, or another area hospitals.
During the workshop, couples will learn:
How to recognize labor
How to labor at home and when to leave for the hospital
What to expect after arriving at the hospital
How to make decisions in real time while reducing fear and the need for control
How to use the BRAIN analogy during labor
Comfort measures and labor positions to practice together
Specific ways partners can provide meaningful support
Options for medicated and unmedicated birth
What to expect with inductions, C-sections, and recovery
How to navigate interventions, unexpected changes, informed decision-making, and advocacy
Together we create a personalized birth plan and hospital packing list
What to expect during the first 24 hours
Normal physical and hormonal shifts and postpartum recovery
The workshop includes hands-on practice, a 30-minute lunch break, and a private 20-minute follow-up call with Sarah for personal questions and birth-plan guidance

Sarah is a childbirth educator and birth and postpartum doula with 14 years of experience supporting Tacoma families through hundreds of births.
Recurring Wellness & Fitness Class Schedule
Bone Health & Strength Training Workout Class
Mondays from 11:15am - 12:15pm for impact, balance, strength & core training.
Thursdays from 12:15pm - 1:15pm for HIIT, impact training, balance challenges & heavy load weight training.
$20 per session, but your first class is free!
For safety, screening is required in advance to make sure you’re ready for the class!
This program is specifically designed to improve bone density and increase muscular strength. It will greatly benefit those who have osteopenia or osteoporosis or those who worry about loss of muscle mass. Our Thursday class is based on elements of the recent LIFTMOR study.

Baby Lounge w/ PCECN and Madrona PT
2nd Friday of the Month: Next Session is 8/14 from 1:30 - 3pm
Totally Free Event, but registration is required!
Bring yourself, your baby, and build community! During a baby lounge gathering, you will be able to ask a health professional your questions and meet other new parents in Pierce County in a safe environment. Pregnant / expecting families and families with children ages 0-1 are welcome!
FIT4BABY in Partnership with FIT4MOM University Place
Mondays & Thursdays from 6-7pm

FIT4BABY on Mondays and Thursdays, from 6-7pm with Jenn Fukuwa, owner of FIT4MOM University Place! Prepare your body for all to come with Jenn’s full body prenatal centered work-outs at each session. Come to build community, get in an amazing workout, and have some fun!
On Mondays, Dr. Angie will be providing pelvic health wellness strategies to empower and ease your pregnancy.
FIT4MOM & other postpartum participants are more than welcome to join in! You don’t have to be pregnant to attend these great sessions and get in an empowering workout.

1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month, from 2:30-4:30pm. Next sessions are 7/15, 8/5, 8/19.

Laura is a licensed clinical social worker and mental health therapist, raising 3 children of her own, who works with women surrounding anxiety, OCD, fertility, perinatal, and peri/menopause concerns. She is passionate about helping women who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves. Whether you’re struggling with burnout, intrusive thoughts, or simply want to feel more grounded and present in your life, therapy with her can be the space where you finally exhale.

Deb is an amazing and experienced birth, postpartum, and sleep doula who supports families through newborn and toddlerhood. Her approach is gentle, practical, and rooted in understanding the whole picture.
