Pregnancy is a joyful and exciting time. It should NOT be an experience that increases your pain or discomfort. At Madrona Physical Therapy we want to teach you better ways to move so you don’t have an uncomfortable pregnancy. We created this free video series to provide you with practical tips that can help prevent injury to your ligaments and tendons during pregnancy.

During pregnancy our body secretes a hormone called relaxin. This hormone is at is highest level midway through your pregnancy. Relaxin is what allows your tendons and ligaments to soften to help for the passage of the baby through the pelvis. It is a good thing! But if we move in ways that create twisting in our pelvis or low back we can cause ligament sprains or tendon strains which lead to pain. We want to help you prevent this pain and injury during pregnancy. We encourage you to watch this series over the next several weeks and incorporate these practices into your daily life

At Madrona Physical Therapy we know that how we move matters. If we spend a little time being mindful and teaching our body a better way to move it will then respond by taking on those movement patterns until they become automatic. Why does it do this? Because our brain knows these movements make our bodies feel good!
